As a reporter for the Republic-Times, I was recognized for my efforts in covering Monroe County's drug-free coalition meetings and events.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

My passion for writing began as early as the second grade when I started correcting my teacher's typos. In high school, this evolved into me competing with my best friend over who could write the best poem.

Today I'm the sole proofreader on a new creative team at Ace Hardware's corporate office. In addition to checking grammar and punctuation for direct mail, digital, flyers, sell sheets and the like, I write copy for product descriptions in circulars. I've also written headlines for BBQ email newsletters, as well as organic post copy for social media ads.

Before getting into marketing, I graduated with a degree in journalism from Illinois State University, spending the first several years of my career as a local reporter. My beat was a little bit of everything — school board meetings, politics, community events, national news — and I loved chasing down each new story.

In my free time, I like to build LEGOs, go for walks, watch movies and go for bike rides along Lake Michigan with my wife. We live in Carol Stream with our dog Chloe, and we like to explore as much of the community around us as we can.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story!
